'The Presence Based Church'

 The Presence based Church

‘While other churches are seeking more people, the Presence based church is seeking more of God’. This book is a call for churches and their pastors to re-orientate their priorities in ministry towards attracting the presence of God in whatever they are doing. There are many exciting new models of church available today. This book is not another model; rather it is asking uncomfortable questions such as: ‘is Jesus is the master or mascot of your church?’ ‘Is he the honoured guest at all your functions and programs, or do we esteem people above all and relegate him to the role of butler?’ In the book Terry looks at the pattern of relationship between God and man in the Old Testament – focused on the Seat of Atonement in the Holy of Holies in the tabernacle in the center of Israel’s camp – and relates it to its New Testament fulfillment in Jesus’ atoning sacrifice on the cross. As Jesus made the vivid presence of God, so awesome to the Israelites, accessible to every Christian believer, the challenge to the church is to recover a greater hunger for God’s presence, the passionate desire for worship, the radical approach to prayer and desperation for more of God in what we do. Terry says, ‘regardless of size, style or label, any church can become more Presence based than it already is. The presence of God just makes everything about a church work better!’. This book is great for church leadership teams as they consider ways forward in worship, for music groups who are considering bible study material or for people interested in 24/7 prayer. We took a month as a new church planting core group to use this as discussion material about core values of church, and found it most helpful in clarifying important issues about the heart of worship and prayer.

'Always Enough'

Always Enough

"ALWAYS ENOUGH - God's Miraculous Provision Among the Poorest Children on Earth" - by Heidi and Rolland Baker.

The book describes the missionary work of the Bakers mainly in Mozambique, where there is an amazing revival, with over 5000 churches have been planted, the dead being raised and the whole nation being impacted. This has come at an immense cost, which challenges our Christianity like 'The Heavenly Man'to the roots and is very disturbing of so much of what we call church. Heidi decribes a vision she had some years ago when she looked into the eyes of Jesus and saw the total compassion for the poor and needy: it is out of that vision that their ministry flows. It is a MUST read if we are serious about seeking revival. It says on the back cover "You will be awed by God's limitless power and tender provision"

Ignite Leadership

‘IGNITING LEADERSHIP’ – A New Book from the Ignite Team

outlining ministry principles and priorities leading to missional church and revival harvest.

When Heaven invades Earth

Praying Hands

This book by Bill Johnson is described as a Practical Guide to Miracles. It is a thoroughly biblical book about the Kingdom of God, or "Heaven invading Earth" - A bit like the Heavenly Man when you read this you wonder whether you've even got to first base in the Christian Life. The life of Jesus shows us true Kingdom life as He fulfilled His ministry in the power of the Spirit and He says His followers will do what He did and greater things, and in turn manifest Kingdom living.

Heidi Baker's testimony is "This book is a must-read for all who desire to walk in the supernatural realm of the Holy Spirit in everyday life. I was so touched by the Lord as I read it, my faith exploded." We found it can only be read in small chunks and needs much re-reading to consider the implications, for revival.

The Diary of Revival

Praying Hands

This video is a fascinating and deeply inspiring account of the early days of the Welsh Revival through the eyes and thoughts of the chief revivalist Evan Roberts himself. The video has the ability to stir your longing for revival. I was moved to tears many times while watching it and given a longing to pray Robert's prayer 'Lord bend me'! It is powerfully anointed and has been created through much prayer and seeking God. It's suitable for watching in home groups, prayer meetings, youth groups etc. Watching it has changed me, it will change you too!

Linda Holt

The Heavenly Man

Praying Hands

This book carries the "Christian Book of the Year 2003' award. Maybe it also should carry the warning : This book can seriously challenge your idea of what being a Christian is all about. It left me feeling we are playing at being Christians. It does not read very much different than reading the book of Acts, it could even be a continuation of it - mixed with the gallery of the faithful in Hebrew 11.

The Heavenly Man is the intensely dramatic story of how God took a young, half-starved boy from a poor village in Henan Province and used him mightily to preach the gospel despite horrific opposition. Brother Yun is one of China's house church leaders, a man who despite his relative youth has suffered prolonged torture and imprisonment for his faith. Instead of focusing on the many miracles or experiences of suffering, however, Yun prefers to emphasize the character and beauty of Jesus.

'Revival' - fading memories or vibrant expectancy?

Praying Hands

William Porter gives encouragement not just to look back on our spiritual heritage with vague hopes but to face the future with the expectancy that God will move in revival power amongst His people.

This is a theological and historical introduction to the subject of revival, but with the added benefit of tackling common misunderstandings and questions people may have about revival movements and the way in which the Spirit works today. The last chapter is a call to pray and return to the Lord and, as such, the booklet is a helpful study for small groups as well as individual reflection.
